About Us
Tom Kotula
Tom graduated from Cleveland State University in 2006 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and 4 years of rowing experience. He is a port rower who sat in the stroke seat for most of his rowing career. Tom has been a volunteer coach for CSU Viking Crew for the past 2 years. After working as an Application Engineer for 2 1/2 years, he decided to take a leave of absence and combine his desire to help others with his love for rowing and adventure. He will be the only crew member to complete the entire duration of the trip.
Jon Hauserman
Jon is a 22 year old student at Cleveland State University. He is looking forward to graduating, in 2010, with a degree in mechanical engineering. Jon also joined the rowing team his freshman year; oddly enough he was recruited by Tom. His best rowing season was Fall 2006 when he rowed in the men’s lightweight 4 with Tom, Denny Matheou, and David Dressler. During this season, they won gold at the Head of the Ohio Regatta and competed at the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston. Jon helped Tom design and construct the boat for the trip. He will also be joining Tom for the first two months of the journey. He will not continue for fear of getting his father’s boot in his @$$ (for not graduating by Spring 2010).
